This is coming from CBS Sports.com's Jon Heyman, so, who knows. I mean, I guess I could have posted this and if it didn't come true, I could say that it was a "source", but anyway, let's give it to him...
Jon Heyman says that Valentine will be fired by the Red Sox. According to Heyman: "Red Sox upper management intends to remove Bobby Valentine as manager soon after the season ends, people familiar with the situation say.
The belief is Valentine's ouster will come either Thursday or Friday, though that isn't known. Some people believe the Red Sox will give Valentine the courtesy of a meeting, but several people said they don't believe there's any chance he would be able to change their minds, assuming he'd want to.
"No comment," general manager Ben Cherington said by text regarding the expected imminent ouster." Read the whole story HERE.
So, we'll see. I love that the source that told Heyman this was "people familiar with the situation." I mean, I'm familiar with the situation, so are you. So is my barber. Maybe Heyman asked him? Stay tuned...
