Tomorrw Andy Pettitte will be back pitching for the New York Yankees against the Toronto Blue Jays. The best thing that can happen
right now the week starts off with a Pettitte win and we never look back. Can it happen? Yes it can, because I believe.
Andy Pettitte's return could possibly be the jolt the Yankees really need. Sure, I've said that a few times over the past few months, choosing player that I believe can lead this team, but this is different. This is Andy Pettitte we're talking about.
Sometimes when that extra "leader figure" arrives, players open their eyes.
I mean think about, our own ace, CC Sabathia just said after his last start "Hopefully, they can help us out, because I haven't been", read HERE." It may sound like a shout of desperation, but it's not. It's a teammate with confidence that getting the old band back together again will be the answer they need. I believe that.
Now, I know what your thinking, What about Derek Jeter? He's leading this team, what no love? No, actually, a whole lotta love. Derek Jeter is and had been a true leader
alright, but he's been that every night doing everything right for our team. I'm only saying that if Andy walks into
that clubhouse as a player and not a spectator, that's half of the Core
Four ready to roll. You see what I mean? Those are guys that have been there once or twice or
3, 4 or 5 times. You want to see action? They'll bring you action.
That's why we subscribe to the old "Posada team meeting" so often here
at BYB.
These veterans are the Godfathers and their presence alone can
rattle the cages of players less fortunate. Sure, Pettitte's been around
the Yanks while this slump has happened, but there is something about
Pettitte activated and in the zone that changes everything for me,
especially in September. Andy knows autumn. Andy knows that feeling of being on the field on a crisp, cool night and guess what? Jeter knows it too. It's very familiar to where they have been many many times before...the playoffs. Well, it's time again...we can do this, because I believe.
Andy Pettitte will definitely help this New York Yankees team right now despite concern about his health after injury. All signs point to Andy feeling healthy and ready to contribute.
You can almost see the life bubbling again. The hits are slowly coming, the
pitching, while shaky some nights, has a whiff of success, like something good's
about to happen.
Look at David Phelps in his last outing (read HERE)? Who would have
expected that? The point is the time is now and the Yankees are ready to explode. A strong start by Andy tomorrow night will be the jolt they need. The clicking is slow, but
it's about to come fast...Andy will spark an eruption. Teammate Derek Jeter and
he will lift our team from out of the shadows and carry us to the finish
line. There is no other way to say it. Fat Tuesday's coming. Andy
Pettitte's coming... The Yankees are coming, I swear... just believe.
