Here's an interesting nugget that just popped up. It's a tweet by Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post... read it HERE.
It seems that hte Yankees have "some" interest in Nationals outfielder Rick Ankiel who was recently designated for assigment by the Washington Nationals. While his numbers aren't exactly outstanding (.228 AVG, 5 HR, 15 RBI, 59 K), he is a corner outfielder and with Brett Gardner ultimately finished for the season, Nick Swisher hurt, and many questioning the cost of Shane Victorino if the Yankees were actually considering that route...well, let's just say everything happens for a season and Ankiel could be the cheap alternative, plus the timing may be right.
Look, I'm not saying it's the greatest idea I've ever heard, but I'm not saying it's bad either. He's 33, he's hungry to play and pinstripes may do the body good. Ankiel is definitely someone to think about.
