Just a quick note about just how damn great Nick Swisher is. On Saturday, June 9th, the Yankees will honor the military and Nick Swisher and Steinder Sports will be apart of it raising money for the military.
According to the press release on YES: "Footwear giant New Balance has made Swisher two pairs of custom military-inspired cleats, and the Yankees’ right fielder will wear both on Saturday – one during batting practice and the other during that night’s game against the Mets.
Swisher’s custom New Balance cleats specifically honor 68 Whiskey, a military occupational specialty for healthcare specialists in the U.S. Army. The cleats feature a 68W camouflage with the 68 Whiskey skill identifiers hidden throughout. Also, the Expert Field Medical badge is on the right tongue of the cleats and the Combat Medical badge is featured on the left tongue, while Swisher’s #33 is on the back heel in a military-inspired font.
Both pairs of cleats will also be put up for auction by Steiner Sports, with all proceeds going to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, which supports the families of fallen and wounded military special operations personnel."
The Auction will run through June 15th at 10pm eastern on Steiner's website.
According to Nick Swisher: “My grandfather was a military man who fought in the Korean War, so I’ve always been a supporter of the military. And after a visit to our armed forces in Afghanistan, this cause means even more to me."
You gotta love Nick Swisher and our United States Military.
