WHY THE GRANDY MAN CAN...AND DID!

Curtis Granderson is a freak ya'll! 5 for 5... 3 home runs tonight to help the Yankees win over the Twins and what can I say, he is something else. I often think back to when Granderson couldn't hit lefties back in 2010... then he slumped and was streaky and then, Kevin Long and he analyzed his swing and suddenly...magic... I hope it lasts, I love seeing The Gentleman happy. The game started ugly. Phil Hughes was less than stellar in the 1st inning allowing 4 runs. I thought right then it was over. But that's why this Yankees' team is incredible, they picked up Hughes and they won the game by coming back. You have to love that. There is no denying though, there are big problems with Phil Hughes, 5.1 innings pitched, allowed 6 hits and 6 runs. He struck out 4 and walked 2. Yes, after the first inning he settled in, but you have to question what the hell happened?

Derek Jeter had another hit tonight and now he's at #18 on the all time hits list tying Dave Winfield. Nice! Alex Rodriguez had 2 hits tonight as did Mark Teixeira and the Yankees bullpen was just outstanding and they have been all season. I loved watching Rafael Soriano tonight and David Robertson is always a treat. Mariano Rivera got another save (3) and what can I say... the Yankees split the series against the Twins, which is great... now they move on to the evil Boston Red Sox.

And not to hammer Eduardo Nunez on such a great night, but as predicted, another fielding error. Why does this keep happening? Read my thoughts on Nunez in WHY NOT MAKE NUNEZ AND OUTFIELDER?

Anyway...Final Score tonight: Yankees 7 - Twins 6.

Tomorrow, the Yankees play the Red Sox in Fenway Park for the start of a 3 game series. No doubt it will be great. I love the Yankees and Red Sox games, really exciting. Tomorrow both teams will celebrate 100 years of Fenway Park, when it all began in Boston in 1912...coverage begins at 2pm on YES... Amazing. Look for my thoughts on the Throwback game tomorrow morning in a new post...both teams will dress up in old uniforms as part of the celebration.
