So Jack Curry of YES Network has tweeted that the Tampa Rays are expected to sign former Yankee Hideki Matsui. According to Curry, Matsui could sign a minor league contract with the Rays soon. Matsui, who turns 38 in June, spent last season with the Oakland A's and finished with a .251 Avg with 12 Home runs.
One of the tweets that caught my eye from Curry was that Matsui had been preparing for the 2012 season in the New York area. Would have been nice to have him back in pinstripes. Maybe that window has not closed, we'll see. Casey will have more on this either tonight or tomorrow morning.
