There are plenty of notes that don't warrant an entire post about them. So here is our nuggets piece that we put together for you every once in a while, just to keep it you in the loop...we care.
Michael Pineda, Ivan Nova and Eduardo Nunez each agreed to 1 year deals with the Yankees according to George King III, read HERE. Pineda signed for $528,475, Novas signed for $527,200 and Nunez signed for $523,800.Curtis Granderson will be up for free agency soon and the Yankees will really need to decide what they'll do. It will be right around the time Robinson Cano will be looking for a big contract with newly acquired agent Scott Boras. If I had to predict, basically because the Yankees want to keep their payroll lower, they may need to let Granderson walk and hold onto their home grown talent in Robinson Cano. That's just speculation on my part. Anyway, John Harper of the New York Daily News has his piece on this exact topic is HERE.Jay Ward, who was the Yankees' hitting coach in 1987, passed away back on February 24th. Read HERE. He was 73 years old. Ward career in baseball was extensive but mostly played in the minor leagues. He signed with the Yankees as a 17 year old in 1956 and played 15 seasons with a variety of teams including the Twins (above), the Reds and even in Japan. he coached under Lou Piniella as the Yankees hitting coach in 1987. Prayers go out to Ward's family.
