WHY THE YANKEES LOOKED GOOD TODAY

Look, it doesn't matter one bit, after all, both the Yankees and Phillies are just working out winter kinks and some guys like Raul Ibanez are just adjusting to a new life in pinstripes...you know... it's Spring Training! But for the most part, it was great to see our boys of summer on the field today.

I loved seeing Curtis Granderson today and even though the wind put his homer over the fence, it's baseball and it's important that he continue the rampage he finished off with last season. He also hit a double off Cole Hamels in the first inning. DeWayne Wise had a triple today. Chris Dickerson had a double and Eric Chavez was back, he played first and it was damn good to see him. Hell, even watching Ivan Nova pitch a bit was great. He went 2 innings and he looked OK. It was a beautiful day in Clearwater, no doubt and it was even more beautiful to see Jonathon Papelbon in a Phillies uniform, out of the American League. Can't stand the guy and hated him more when he was with the Sox.

The most interesting part for me though had to be watching Ibanez walk up the the batter's box for the first time. He was booed by the fans. These were mostly Phillies fans, fans that loved him when he was with the Phillies. Ibanez offered so much to the Phillies while he was there in Philly and not suddenly, he's the enemy. It's amazing to me. What was better was watching Ibanez hit a popper that literally just fell inside the line behind third base and helped get Curtis Granderson to score the first run for the Yanks.

Look ,the Yankees won 8-5 today in a non-important game. I get that, but I'm telling you because the Yankees are back! Thank God. Tomorrow the Yanks go again, again it's a 1:05pm game but this games scheduled to be on YES. On the mound this time to start things off.... Freddy Garcia. I'm looking forward to it.

  1. The fans were saying RAAAAUULL, they were not booing him. They also gave him a very loud applause in introductions. Get your facts straight. Philly fans will never boo a player who plays with heart and works hard. He also didn't choose to leave the Phillies. Ibanez will always be cheered by Philly fans with RAAAUULLL. Best said by phillies announcers today, the fans are saying raaauulll because if it was boos the voices would sound angry. it's pathetic that noone acknowledges all the times explayers return and get a standing ovation. How many times have ny fans done that?! Boston and Philly have real fans with passion which explains why we both have so much hatred toward ny fake fans.
