WHY THE YANKEES BEAT THE TWINS

It was a late inning rally that allwed the Yankees to win today in a split squad. The other half of the team was playing the Philadelpiha Phillies, but look for that in our next piece titled WHY 3 Cs LIFTED THE YANKS OVER THE PHILS.

Ivan Nova pitched today for the Yanks. Francisco Liriano was on the mound for the Twins and he’s been great all Spring. Well, he was again today. First Nova who went to 7 innings today. He allowed 4 runs on 7 hits. Nova hasn’t been spectacular this spring, but then again, it’s spring. I’m just glad he was stretched out a bit going 7 innings. That works for me.

The highlights today were simple. The Yankees were down until the 7th inning when they rallied and got 5 runs. Eduardo Nunez has a double. Earlier in the game, a Derek Jeter was back after nursing that calf injury. He was instructed that he just play 3 innings and not push too hard coming out of the box so he doesn’t aggravate it more. Jeter singled off Liriano in his first at bat. He was replaced by Ramiro Pena who got the Yankees on the board with their first run of the game. He cranked out a homer.

Final Score today was 6-4. Yankees win. Smile.
