WHY THE YANKEES BEAT THE NATIONALS

The Yankees won 4-3 today against the Nationals and it was an extra inning game. CC Monster wasn’t a monster at all today, but whatever, you can’t harp on it, it’s life. We can’t all be perfect. CC already forgot about it because it doesn’t matter, you should too.

Sabathia gave up 3 earned runs on a walk and 6 hits. He only struck out 2. Gio Gonzalez pitched for the Nationals and did better, sometimes it just works out that way.

Alex Rodriguez homered today to tie the game 3-3 and finally in the 10th inning when Justin Maxwell walked, Melky Mesa reached on a fielding error and Brandon Laird hit a sac fly. Maxwell who advanced to third on the fielding error was able to tag at third and score.

Phil Hughes looked great today and as I stated in WHY HUGHES NOW GETS A CLOSER LOOK because Freddy Garcia’s next start may get pushed back due to being hit in his hand, he will need to impress now every time he’s out there to get the confidence from Girardi that’s he’s ready to take the ball every 5th day. Hughes pitched 4 scoreless innings and had 3 strikeouts. Good Stuff Yanks! The clubhouse was buzzing today because of Andy Pettitte signing a minor league deal with the Yanks so there was plenty more to talk about than the game, that’s for sure. Tomorrow Hiroki Kuroda pitches for the Yanks against the Houston Astros. It’s a 1:05pm game. Ladies and Gentlemen… we’re already almost to the end of the Spring Training finish line… real baseball is almost here… say Hallilujah, say Amen.
