WHY DAVID ROBERTSON IS HOPEFUL

Breaking:  YES' Jack Curry just tweeted:  " Robertson has bone bruise. Will stay in walking boot until Mon. Then boot will be removed and he will work his way back. Good news for Yanks"

"Girardi said Robertsons diagnosis is "a huge relief." Said he "would think" Robertson would be ready for season opener."

Girardi added, "This is as good as it gets for us." Obviously, said Yanks will be cautious in bringing Robertson back.

The Star-Ledger's MLB Columnist, Jeff Bradley, wrote a column this morning that should bring a ray of hope to Yankees fans everywhere regarding the foot injury David Robertson suffered.  You can read the full column HERE.  Reading Bradley's column it appears to me DRob is hopeful and optimistic that he will be able to perform for the Yankees sooner than later.  Bradley writes that Robertson walked into the Yankee clubhouse on crutches but mentioned the pain has already subsided.  He is thinks he may be back mound pitching in a week.  Robertson said, "For now I'm walking on crutches and in this boot as a precaution to try and keep weight off the foot."  Robertson went on to say, "There's no news news yet.  All the scans and X-rays have gone off to a doctor for a second opinion.  Hopefully. we'll learn more later today."  As for the way DRob got hurt by stumbling down stairs, he said, "It's embarrassing.  I'd rather tell you I tripped over a chair in the clubhouse or something than tell you I fell down the stairs in my own house.  And not even a full flight of stairs, just one step."

It appears Robertson has a good sense of humor about the whole ordeal and I am sure when the GOOD NEWS comes back he will be getting ripped left and right by his teammates.  I can only imagine how they are going to tease him in the clubhouse.  Oh to be a fly on the wall!

So as we await further news on DRob's injury expected later today, I think we can all agree that Robertson is a fighter and hates to lose.  This is a guy who has proven his toughness and I anticipate he will be on that mound by Opening Day....hopefully!

BYB will continue to bring you the latest news and analysis concerning David Robertson's injury today and the days ahead.
