WHY IBANEZ WILL BE A BRONX BOMBER

It seems as though we are just hours away from a new announcement that will include Raul Ibanez as a new member of the New York Yankees. Yes, with everything happening with AJ Burnett, it was hard to cut through it, but now that Burnett's waking up in Pirates camp, there's no question things are happening.

The latest reports are from Joel Sherman of the New York Post who suggests that a framework is in place to bring Raul Ibanez to the Yankees. His tweet's HERE. It's a $1 million deal plus incentives and it's all mapped out, but clearly they didn't want him signing on the dotted line until the Yankees had the money from the Burnett deal. You guys have read this stuff before, but I just wanted to remind you... money's tight in Yankeeland. I know... hard to believe.
The other guy the Yankees want is Eric Chavez and there are mixed reports because some believe the Yankees will only sign 1 and not the other. Read WHY THERE MAY ONLY BE ROOM FOR ONE. There is also a report from Bryan Hoch (you know him, you love him) that says Chavez is only 50-50 about coming back. Read Hoch's tweet HERE. Interesting and that's the first I'm hearing of it.

Look, here's my take; The Yankees will pursue both guys. I expect Ibanez to be officially signed soon. I also believe that they can offer Eric Chavez a $1 million deal as well. I know they have $2 million lying around and Chavez in my opinion doesn't deserve more because of what his role will be in pinstripes, as well as his injury rep.

Clearly though, the best news is that the Yanks have made some important moves this off season and now, it's Spring Training. You gotta love it.
