REPORT: CHAVEZ & IBANEZ TO BE FINALIZED SUNDAY

Just a quick note the that's definitely worth telling you about. Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com says the Yankees cannot and will not finalize anything with Raul Ibanez and Eric Chavez until AJ Burnett passes his physical on Sunday in Pittsburgh. Interesting. Read Heyman HERE. I think it's safe to say the Yankees have settled on Raul Ibanez, but hey, anything can happen. The way Heyman reports this makes you think that there are literally unsigned, set contracts on the table for Chavez and Ibanez and once AJ passes his physical, Raul and Eric will be given pens to sign on the dotted line.Whatever the case, I think it's safe to say the Yankees made some pretty great moves this off-season; they saved a few bucks, they never got impatient and they picked up some talent to better their club. I think back often the past few days about Johnny Damon though. Damon would have been fun coming back to the Bronx if Scott Boras didn't muck it up for him. Boras overshot with Edwin Jackson too if you remember and he ended up signing a 1 year deal with the Nationals after his big agent threatened that he deserves 5 years and $60 million. Ridiculous. He did it to Damon too telling everyone he deserved $5 million. Bottom line, he doesn't. In the end, if Ibanez signs with the Yankees, Johnny Damon can blame himself. I wrote DEAR JOHNNY.... DROP YOUR PRICE OR FIRE YOUR AGENT because Johnny didn't think for himself and now it appears he's all alone...oh well.

When stuff goes down with Ibanez and Chavez you'll hear about it here, just check back. In the meantime, I'm going to try and enjoy the city today. After all, when baseball starts up, the days seem nicer for me for some reason. Who knows... maybe I'll see ARod today... unless of course he decided to show up in Tampa...doubtful.
