WHY WE LISTEN WHEN ROTHSCHILD SPEAKS

“He’s got the tools to become an ace.” –Larry Rothschild tells the New York Post of Pineda

I tend to listen and believe Larry Rothschild when he speaks. The guy shoots straight and in his business, why lie? If the pitchers can’t pitch, that’s on him, so it’s within his best interest to be honest about what type of talent he has to deal with and see if he can fix and help them in some way. Anyway, Dan Martin has this story HERE. Rothschild says:

“I’m excited about getting him… he’s going to go through the same things everyone else goes through…It’s not going to happen overnight, but he has the tools to get there.”

He also told Dan Martin this:

“His arm strength looks very competitive and it doesn’t look like he takes any pitches off during games, which is great for a young pitcher…I love his attitude on the mound…he seems to have a fire to do well and you can tell he’s not afraid to go after people and not hold back. The third pitch, the changeup is what we’re going to work on developing to get him to the next level.”

As far as Hiroki Kuroda is concerned, Rothschild told Martin he’s looking forward to him as well:

“He knows how to pitch. He just has to stay healthy and add some consistency.”

Yes, all that sounds refreshing, but think about this for a second. Do you realize that the Montero/Pineda deal is still not officially finalized yet? Sure, Ken Davidoff tweeted that Montero is finally on his way to Seattle HERE, but there was a short time where, between the visa stuff and bad weather in Washington State, things weren't getting done. Neither was the Kuroda deal and as far as I know, Kuroda's still in Japan and he needs to get to New York for a physical. That came first from Jack Curry of YES Network HERE. I joked about how Steinbrenner must have God’s ear and he’s stalling the whole thing but the reality is, it’s just an unusual chain of events. Read about it HERE.

Look, bottom line, Larry Rothschild is Yoda and these pickups signed and settled in for Spring, he will train them to be Jedi's. He’s figured out flaws in many of our guys and while only some can’t seem to stay consistant, Rothschild is the guy you want there, no doubt.

Kudos to Dan Martin at the New York Post by the wat for his one, it was a good read.
