WHERE WILL CESPEDES LAND? NO ONE KNOWS

Let’s face it, you can look at half of these “baseball insiders” and think they have an in on certain stories but if you think about it, no one even saw the Michael Pineda/ Jesus Montero trade coming. Look, I’m not saying their bad at their jobs, I love reading most of these guys… all I’m saying is no one knows anything. Many just need to hand in a piece to make deadline and when it comes to Yoennis Cespedes… there are plenty of offenders… including me, who is just a ridiculous blogger who likes to write some news, and also reference obscure pop culture references because… let’s face it, that’s all I got.

The latest rumor about Yoennis Cespedes is simple, the Yankees may be interested in Cespedes, or, they may not. How about we don’t write about it then? Wallace Matthews has that story HERE. Let’s be honest, after Cashman’s brilliant shell game with the NY sports media to bring Pineda to the Bronx, everyone should really just wait and see if anything is done before we all speculate, right? It seems silly to write nothing and none stories until the really story hits anyway. That being said, there is clearly a bigger question involved in this latest rant… Who the hell WILL land Yoennis Cespedes anyway?

Several reports have it that the Chicago Cubs are the “favorites” to land him. Read HERE. What does that even mean? Does it mean they have the money to spend on him? Does it mean that all the talks with the Cespedes camp and the Cubs have been very very positive? Who really knows, right?

If I had to predict, the Yankees will not snag up Yoennis Cespedes. Why? Money. If Cespedes is asking for $50 Million, I can’t see the Yankees going for that. If the Yankees can free up budget for $25 million and bring this guy to the Bronx without getting out bid, I say do it and we’ll worry about the outfield situation later, but to be honest, it seems to be a pretty slim chance in my opinion.

Look, Brian Cashman proved to the world that he may in fact be the smartest General Manager in the history of baseball. Now, whether or not the Pineda deal works in the Yankees favor is still a work in progress, but the point is, no one saw it coming...NO ONE. I would almost suggest that Cespedes, while he doesn’t seem to be on the Yankees radar, may in fact be, but again… who the hell knows.

But here's an important question for you; What would you do though if you woke up Saturday morning and found Yoennis Cespedes standing on your Yankees doormat? You’d look at him, shake your head, smile and say, “Wow, Brian Cashman… you’ve done it again!” I know you would.
