WHY GRANDERSON IS OUR MVP

Well Yankee fans, Bleeding Yankee Blue readers have spoken and Curtis Granderson would be your MVP if the MVP award was delivered today. Out of 108 votes, the voting breaks down like this.

It’s really no surprise to me, Granderson has done everything right this season and not only on the field. He’s a true leader and to be honest, he deserves more credit than he’s gotten. I think back to 2010 and how he struggled after having a hot start. Then Kevin Long got a hold of him and the mechanics kicked in. They did a little tweaking and suddenly Curtis Granderson was off and running.

Again, here are Granderson’s numbers in 2011.

.262 AVG / 41 HR / 119 RBI / 25 SB / 136 R / .364 OBP

Below are his numbers in the postseason in 2010 and 2011. I only put this in this post because it’s important we don’t forget how it all came to be. Don’t forget, it started last fall and he’s never let up. Check them out:

2010 Postseason: 10-28 / 1 HR / 6 RBI / 3 R / .357 AVG

2011Postseason: 5-20 / 1 HR / 3 RBI / 4 R / .250 AVG

There is no doubt that Robinson Cano is the future of the New York Yankees. I have a hunch that once Derek Jeter hangs it up, our new captain will eventually be Robinson Cano. He’s matured; he’s a hitting machine and has also demonstrated leadership. It was never more evident than this season. Again, here are Cano's numbers this season:

.302 AVG / 28 HR / 118 RBI / 8 SB / 104 R / .349 OBP

But yes, ya’ll have spoken for sure. Curtis Granderson deserves the MVP in 2011. Let’s hope the writers do the right thing.

Oh and on a side note and something that's very topical with all of this, you know that Curtis Granderson and Robinson Cano are currently in Chinese Taipei. (Read WHY CURTIS GRANDERSON CONTINUES TO IMPRESS.) Well, yesterday, Curtis Granderson hit a Grand Slam to lead the MLB team to a 7-0 win over the Taiwan national team. Read HERE. Pretty damn nice... Life is good for the Gentleman, Curtis Granderson. Gotta love it.
