In Part 2, I promised to tell you where Jorge Posada should end up in 2012. Well here it is: I think Posada should be sitting on the Yankees bench next year. In Part 1, I said Joe Girardi should go. My first choice would be Don Mattingly, but it seems he’s in a good spot with the Dodgers despite all the off field drama. My second choice is long time Yankees coach Tony Pena. Pena played in Boston and has been in New York for quite some time. I’m confident he could handle the pressure and egos. The Boston blogs are reporting that Pena will interview for the Red Sox job. Shame, I’d love to see him get another managerial shot here in New York. He’s a smart baseball man. My third choice is Lou Piniella. He’s a fan favorite, proven winner, and maybe a little calmer at this point in his life. Either way, maybe somebody who’s more stern
is what this team needs to get over these first round loses.
What does any of this have to with Jorge Posada? Everything. Seeing Posada with Jesus Montero during September was great. Remember that exclusive photo from Bleeding Yankee Blue below?
Rather than animosity towards his replacement, Posada embraced him and mentored him. He would be a great asset to this team next year in this capacity. No matter what, Good
luck Jorge and and thanks for the memories.
Guys, a final note, thanks for being so supportive and reading BYB's of WHY THE 2012 YANKEES WILL BE DIFFERENT. You made it fun to write it for, thanks for reading it.
