CC Monster is a monster is every sense of the word. See, I have little kids in the house and I always watch the Yankees, and somehow, and I don't know why, CC Sabathia and Cookie Monster got mixed up along the way and CC became CC Monster. (Photo: Getty)
That being said, it works. When he's on and when he's a dominant pitcher, he a true monster, someone that no hitter can handle. Today that was exactly what he was. 8 innings pitched, allowed 7 hits and only 1 run. He also struck out 9. Today was a good day in New York. Today was a good day for CC Monster.
The Yankee offense was all over Aaron Cook today and didn't back off, even when he came out of the game and Teixeira cranked out a 2 run homer in the bottom of the 8th.

Alex Rodriguez went 2 for 3 today with 3 RBI's and at one point he scored on a Nick Swisher sacrifice fly. But that's not all, Gardner was solid today, Jorge Posada had 3 hits and seems to be finally adjusting to the new role as DH and Grandy had a single and sent Gardner from second to home. All around it was a hit parade and it was long after due after the disappointment at the stadium last night. And by the way, the best defensive play of the game needs to go to Nick Swisher for his diving stop while playing first base in the top of the ninth. He dove to his right, snagged the hard grounder, gets up and throws to Buddy Carlyle at first, game over... Yankees win....The YAAAANNNNKKKEEEEES WIIIINNNN!

Don't look now but CC Sabathia is 10-4 and there's no looking back for the big man. The Yankees are in a good spot for the next step in my mind, winning the Series against the Rockies. Series wins are big wins and the Yankees know it.
Final Score: Yankees 8 - Rockies 3. Pure dominance today and tomorrow we win for all the great Yankees from years past on one of the best day of the year for the Bronx, Old Timer's Day. I can't wait.

50 wins as a Yankee, as well...with only 19 losses!!! One of the reasons I think that even he opts out in November, it will be just to make sure he gets a long term deal, a la Rodriguez, and retires a Yankee.
ReplyDeleteBTW, the Cookie Monster reference is funny...my mom thinks he is eating Captain Crunch again, LOL
