WHY NO RUMBLE IN THE BRONX?

In game one of the 2011 Subway Series, the Yankees woes with runners in scoring position continued as they fell to the Mets 2-1, despite another great start by Freddy Garcia.

The Yankees were really inches away from being shutout when Mark Teixeira, who went 1-4 on the night, hit a solo homerun in the third inning to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead. The ball was hit in the first row in right field and was just past the glove of a leaping Carlos Beltran. From that point on, Mets' starter R.A. Dickey was very impressive. For the game he went six innings, allowing just the one run while striking out six. One of those six K's was Jorge Posada who went 0-3 with a walk and two strikeouts.
Freddy Garcia pitched another very good game. He got the tough luck loss though, but went seven innings while punching out a pair. He allowed his first run in the fourth inning on a Justin Turner RBI double. Then Garcia gave up a solo homerun to Daniel Murphy on an off speed pitch that landed in the right field seats. Another positive for the Yankees was their bullpen. Joba Chamberlain and David Robertson came on in the seventh and eighth inning, respectively. They both didn't allow a run to score and they each struck out a pair.

Obviously, the frustrating part of the game was the Yankees lack of hitting with RISP. They went just 1-10. And while they scored 13 runs on Thursday in Baltimore while going 6-13 with RISP, it seemed like the Yankees are back to square one in trying to solve their RISP woes.

Final score tonight was Mets-2 Yankees-1 . Tomorrow, A.J Burnett will look to bounce back from his rough outing in Tampa as he and the Yankee offense opposes Chris Capuano. Go Yanks!
