Bartolo Colon struck out 7 Blue Jays tonight and got his first win of the year. For someone who had to work his way back to a good place in baseball, no one would have guessed Bartolo Colon would be that guy. Many wrote him off a year ago, but Tony Pena insisted the Yankees pursue him when Pena managed Colon in the Winter League. Well, Pena saw something and Colon's delivering and I'm happy for him. He earned it and he needs to shine. Good for him. He has the respect of his Yankee teammates and you know that because of the way Curtis Granderson spoke so highly of him to Kim Jones after the game. Granderson said he's been proud to play behind him all through the Spring and now. That's respect. (photo: Getty)
And speaking of the Gentleman, Curtis Granderson is hitting really great right now. 6 home runs so far and it's April 20th. You look at Granderson compared to the other guys in the Yankees lineup and his frame looks so much smaller. That being said, his bat is moving to the ball perfectly and that makes a great hitter. Long is a genius and Granderson gave him credit for helping him stop moving in the box. Now Grandy has the perfect swing so to speak.(photo: Getty)
Mark Teixeira is rolling. The Spring and Mark Teixeria have never gotten along, but for some reason, this year they are. Thank God. 3 doubles tonight. I like that.
The Yankees did some great situational hitting and sac flies tonight and I'm happy to see that. Both Cano and A-Rod contributed.
David Robertson did well tonight. I've always have been a Robertson fan and with the Three Headed Monster constantly in the spotlight, you forget about David. Give the kid credit, he's flying under the radar and kicking ass doing his job.
I'm happy with this win and I'm hungry for more. Final Score tonight: Yankees 6 - Blue Jays 2. Thank you Gentleman. Thank you.
