ROBBIE CANO...A LADIES MAN?

We’ve all seen the pictures. Admit it. Robbie with a blonde or two in Miami. Hey, he is the King of the Double Play, right? But when it really comes down to it, during the regular season, you don’t hear much at all about Cano’s personal life. It seems that Robinson Cano is married to baseball, and his bride is the New York Yankees.

Now, ask a Yankee Fan about Robbie Cano, and you’ll hear some purring. That boyish smile that melts your heart, the eyes that seem to light up when he hits a home run, or just his winning attitude in general. That’s the stuff that will make any girl swoon…

All that aside, what really makes us “Yankee Ladies” sit up and pay attention about Robbie is not his looks. It’s in the numbers. With a .319 batting average, 29 Home Runs, and 109 RBI’s, how he didn’t get an MVP Title last year baffles the mind. They even wrote about it in Bleeding Yankee Blue on a post called WHY CANO SHOULD WIN THE MVP...BUT WON'T. Although he was ranked #2 in AL East, in our minds, Cano is MVP.

Let’s not forget about the fact that Robbie comes through for us in the clutch. How many times have you breathed a sigh of relief when there’s two outs and runners in scoring position, when Cano comes to the dish and “strikes” his pose? We like that feeling. We like the idea that if there’s a jam, there’s a very good chance will get out of it when we put it in Robbie’s hands.
Second base is no picnic either, but Cano makes it seem like a walk in the park. He’s developed a Jeter-esque type of play that is dangerous to anyone sliding into second. He “turns 2” with effortless ease, then flashes that smile as if to say, “no problem, I got this one”. He makes the most difficult of plays look like practice drills, and his confidence on the field is growing year after year.

Since his Rookie year in 2005, Robinson Cano has grown into the type of player that makes legends out of Yankees. We might not know much about his personal life, if he has a girlfriend, children, or what his favorite flavor of ice cream is. We don’t care. The only ring on his finger I’m looking for is the one that says “New York Yankees, 28–time World Champions”.
