WHY LOSING IS A CANCER

There is never a way to put this nicely. We sucked today and we sucked for the past three games. The Bad News Bears is the model we’re subscribing too...clearly. Strikeouts in big spots, throwing errors and injuries leading to the DL. I don’t even know where to begin, it was a disaster today.

AJ Burnett pitched well, pitching a no-hitter into the 6th inning but by the 7th, it was clear that Detroit was about to score and runs started piling on due to errors. More on that in a moment.

Porcello pitched a good ball game. He ran into some problems but, for the most part, in this series, Penny, Schrezer and Porcello we’re good enough to beat us down with creative and smart pitching leaving the Yankee offense looking like fools, plain and simple.(photo: Jeff Kowalsky/EPA)

The best hit of the game had to come from Eric Chavez who was hot as hell until he busted a toe running around second on his way to third for a triple. How the hell does that happen? I knew he was done when he gave the “cutting of his own throat” signal to the dugout. While Eric Chavez was a great pickup by Brian Cashman this offseason, the guy is a walking ceramic. He’s as fragile as Glass Joe, the 1st and easiest boxer to beat in the old Nintendo Mike Tyson’s Punch out game. You could look at him and he'd bust an ankle. I love Eric Chavez, but it almost seems like God is playing a joke on him with all his injury history, except the joke is clearly not funny anymore.

Jeter did not play today. Some will tell you it was because he can’t hit Porcello. I’m telling you he didn’t play because they don’t want to mess with his cranky hip. He can tell you it’s fine all day long, but I’m worried Hip gate will linger longer. In his place at shortstop was the sloppy fielder Eduardo Nunez, who committed 2 throwing errors. I thought I read that Nunez, in 21 games at shortstop has already committed 5 errors. That’s not bad, that’s horrible. Hey… Message to Nunez, if you want the backup job, you need to be perfect. If not, the fans will eat you alive. They did today. And by the way, when you’re up at the plate, don’t swing for the fences, just put the ball in play. The only thing you have to prove right now is that you can play; you don’t have to be a hero.

The Yankees are not scoring runs Ladies and Gentlemen and as we leave the Motor City, I’m hoping the plane ride is silent and they think about each at bat in their heads. They need to envision the plays they botched, the sloppy running, the errors and think real hard about what the hell they are doing here. These were the Tigers, these games were all winnable.

Now, why do I sound like a total douchbag you ask? Because these are my Yankees, and they’re better than that. We are champions, not losers and that display today was freakin’ ridiculous.

The pitchers the Yankees used this Series were good, leaning toward great. We could have and should have swept the Tigers in 4 games, if only they were able to hit. Robinson Cano, lost. Nick Swisher, lost. Jorge Posada, lost. These are our hitters, they need to hit, bottom line. Some of the other guys did what they could but clearly today, AJ Burnett pitched his heart out and his day was wasted. Disgraceful.

Final Score today: Tigers 6 – Yankees 3.

Do you think I'm being harsh? Unreasonable? Stupid? Tell me why, I need to hear from you. Comment and make my day. Tell me why I’m wrong or right… even adorable, I don’t care, just let me know.
