THE YANKEES JUST MADE ANOTHER MOVE

Yup, the Yanks are still making moves.  Some are not big ones, but some are. This one is small, but significant. You know Taylor Trammell? Yea, we got him.

Newsweek writes:

"Yankees have claimed outfielder Taylor Trammell off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday, the team announced. To make room on the 40-man roster for Trammell, infielder Kevin Smith was designated for assignment...

Trammell has tons of talent, but just hasn't been able to put it together at the big league level.

Fortunately, he won't have much pressure to contribute, as the Yankees' starting outfield consists of Alex Verdugo, Aaron Judge and Juan Soto, who is off to one of the best starts in franchise history in his first season in the Bronx. Behind them as the fourth outfielder is Trent Grisham, whom the team acquired in the Soto trade with the Padres.... Trammell will likely start in Triple-A, and will hope to earn himself a call-up to show what he can do in New York."

YANKEES KEEP ADDING PLAYERS, BUT NONE STAND OUT IN NAME ALONE

The Yankees are doing what they always do in the offseason, meaning nothing has changed.  Are we a better team today than we were last year? I mean, we have Soto, we have Verdugo, but what else do we have?  What's going on with the pitching situation? Are we really going to sit here as a fan base and think that we've improved?

Wait. Hold on... we just signed Kevin Smith.  Let's go!

Now a lot of you are wondering who Kevin Smith is.  I thought the same thing until I did some reading about him.  I'm happy about the acquisition, but this guy's no doubt a work in progress, a wild card. And again... we still need pitching. 

Inside the Athletics writes:

"In his two seasons with the A's, he hit a combined .182 with a .218 OBP and seven home runs in 96 games. Smith hasn't received consistent big-league playing time and has split time between shortstop, his natural position, and third base...

So far in the Majors, he has struggled to hit fastballs, and pitchers have been throwing him around 55% heaters the past two seasons. He hit just .136 against them last season with a .164 expected batting average. "

And so, my question is, why?  We didn't have a good season last year for Yankee standards.  We were looking for an aggressive Brian Cashman this off season.  After all, he was pompous and defensive when pressed about it.  But like I've said, signing Soto for a year as well as Verdugo isn't gonna cut it.  We need pitching.  

You gotta wonder what the Yankees have under their sleeve if we do at all.  I'm not very satisfied.  I highly doubt Kevin Smith is gonna lead this team in any category... no offense to Smith of course.
