THE YANKEES JUST GRABBED AN INFIELDER!

The Yankees have made a move! No, not that move. But a move, nonetheless. They’ve claimed infielder Braden Shewmake off waivers from the Royals, bringing their 40-man roster to full capacity. Which means, naturally, they’ll need to clear a spot once Tim Hill’s deal is finalized. Ah, the never-ending roster shuffle.

So, what are we getting in Shewmake? Well, he’s got a glove. A really good one. He can pick it at shortstop, second, and third with ease. The bat, though? Let’s just say it’s more of a decorative piece than an actual weapon. If you’re looking for a slick-fielding infielder who won’t hurt you defensively but also won’t make a pitcher sweat—this is your guy.

But here’s the kicker: MLB Trade Rumors notes that Shewmake might not even stick around, as he could be DFA’d again once the Yankees need to make room. Which means we’re basically playing musical chairs with a surehanded glove.

Baseball, huh? Gotta love it.
