HEY SEVERINO! QUIT COMPLAINING ABOUT YOUR REHAB ASSIGNMENT & GO PITCH!

Dejavu! Just like last season, Luis Severino is unhappy about how the Yankees have approached his rehab from another lat strain injury. Newsflash Sevy....everyone is frustrated.

On Sunday, Severino spoke with some beat writers in the visiting clubhouse, and he had a lot to say about his rehab, read more HERE. The good news in this story should be that Severino has a rehab start planned and if all goes well we could have him back in the rotation by the end of May. But it's not....instead Severino is unhappy and he wants things done HIS way.

Last Friday, the Yankees had planned for Severino to make a rehab start for Low-A but made a last minute change to throw a simulated game instead in Tampa. The Yankees made the change because they wanted to keep Severino in a controlled environment a little longer before taking the next step. Considering his lengthy injury history, I don't think it is a bad decision, but Severino disagrees.

Yesterday, Severino said "it was unnecessary not the throw in a game" and now the Yankees are ready to put him in a game and he wants them to change his scheduled game. Instead of a Wednesday morning game, he now wants the Yankees to change it to Thursday instead.

"Wednesday, the only (Yankees’ affiliate) who is home is Scranton and they play at 11:30 (in the morning),” Severino said. “I’m not thrilled about pitching in an 11:30 game. I don’t want to stay in Scranton (the night before) and I don’t want to drive at 6 in the morning. So hopefully (pushing it back) one day is not going to be a big deal."

That's confusing....is this the quote from a guy who wants to compete and be trusted? Sounds like a quote from a diva. Quit your complaining, take your paycheck, be quiet, get healthy and be ready when called upon. This is an opportunity to show what you have left in the tank. This is a contract year for Sevy. It's an audition for next year and beyond. Nothing is guaranteed or promised, and I don't think he is presenting himself in the best possible light here.

I want to see Severino come back strong and contribute. This team needs the best version of himself now more than ever before. I really don't care what his preferences are, just shut up and pitch! If Severino spent more of his career on the roster instead of on the injured list, then I could understand some of his frustration. But that's not the case. Now he needs to take this opportunity and run with it and be a team player.
