Everybody loves a story of perseverance and Franchy Cordero has one. We wrote YANKEES SNAG ANOTHER OUTFIELDER WHILE RELEASING OUTFIELDER ORTEGA. Ortega was released and this guy Franchy Cordero showed up and Yankeeland was all about "Who?" and "He's a Red Sock, F this guy, Fire Cashman." Small-minded people say small-minded things. Here's the good news... Cordeo is fitting in nicely in Yankee pinstripes.
Our guy Bryan Hoch writes:
"Franchy Cordero is stealing headlines (and playing time) with a surge of his own...With four homers and 11 RBIs through eight games, Cordero has seemingly muscled past Aaron Hicks on the Yanks’ outfield depth chart.“It’s amazing to be able to contribute,” Cordero said through an interpreter. “I’m really happy with the results I’m getting right now.”
And yes, it is true. Cordero is hustling contributing and putting Hicks out of a job. Cordero is making $1 million in 2023. In 2023 for Hicks you ask? Well, he will earn a base salary of $10,500,000, while carrying a total salary of $10,785,714. Are you yelling at your screen right now? Because it's outrageous.
Play the hard-nosed guy who contributes. That's Cordero right now! Gotta love it.
