I wonder what was the highlight of week for Jasson Dominguez...hitting a home run in his second Futures game or his promotion? Either way, this was a good week for him and it's been exciting to watch. Right before heading to the Futures Game for his second appearance Dominguez learned he was leaving Low-A Tampa for a promotion to High-A Hudson Valley. The next time The Martian suits up for a game he will be in a new uniform.
That's a good way to start your All-Star break, but let's not forget the Futures Game. It didn't start the way he wanted it but we all know it's not about how you start, it's all about how you finish. Dominguez was able to get past the deep fly ball that he should have caught but instead dropped for a two-run error. Next inning he stepped up to the plate with one man on base and crushed a 94 mph fastball into the left-center field seats. That sure beats his 2021 appearance where he went hitless.
And if people weren't paying attention before now all eyes are going to be on Dominguez since Juan Soto turned down the Nationals contract extension and are open to the idea of trading him. If the Yankees wanted to start that conversation with the Nationals, Dominguez is easily a name that the Nationals could ask for in addition to some others. Just more speculation to add as the trade deadline gets closer.
So now we sit back and watch and see what Dominguez does next in High-A. Oh, and in case you didn't get to SEE him get the good news on his promotion take a look at this. It's all over social media and it will give you a smile to start your work week.
