A WELL DESERVED RIPPING OF AARON BOONE!

Sometimes you just gotta say what's on your mind.  Bleeding Yankee Blue has been doing that since it started in September 2010 and when we did, we were not popular, meaning, readers didn't get it.  They'd email me, "Why are you going off on Girardi?" or "You're not a true fan because you don't support the Yankees." That stuff is all crap. I speak honestly. I see things and report them as a journalist AND a fan. Over time people got that, but it wasn't easy because many times fans are blind to reality. No worries... you're forgiven.

Michael Kay is going off on Aaron Boone and I love it. Why? Because it needs to be said. NJ.com writes:

"...when he said that the (Sanchez) criticism was over the top, I was dumbfounded. It almost made me pull my hair. It’s so unfair...

...I’ve never killed Gary Sanchez,” Kay said. “I think that he had a really terrible year this year. I’m not going to put lipstick on a pig. And that’s why I was so offended that we were over the top. How are we over the top?

My advice to Aaron... you’re ruining your credibility by saying stuff like that because everybody has eyes. Everybody saw what (Sanchez) did. Everybody saw the year that he had. Everybody saw that you didn’t start him in a win-or-go-home game.

You’re not supposed rip your players. I get that. But you’re going over the top saying all the good things that (Sanchez) does when you didn’t play him. And you might lose credibility with your players."

By the way? Bravo Michael Kay. Many fans have not been too thrilled with Sanchez.  Listen, my feels about Sanchez go back to the minors. This dude has an attitude, thinks he's better than he is and probably bought into the praise and most likely doesn't put the work in. Read WHY SOMEONE NEEDS AN ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT from June 2011. It's very telling.

And you know what? He doesn't live up to the hype. Look, if Gerrit Cole won't pitch to the guy, you gotta wonder why. Maybe he's just not too good.

Anyway, honesty rules. You gotta appreciate that.

How do you guys feel about Sanchez? How do you feel about honesty? Comment.

  1. The yankees need to leave Sanchez alone and let him catch. All he needs to do is continue to work on his defense. This pitch framing crap is hurting him. Stop with the down on 1 knee so he can pitch frame is ridicules. A catchers main work is working with your pitching staff calling good games an blocking pitches in the dirt. Pitch framing for me is just an added plus but not that important. Just leave him be and go back to catching 101 instead a new way of 1 knee crap.

    1. He needs a change. He isn't good enough to play for a team wanting to win a World Series.

  6. Boone is a puppet. He does what he is told.Otherwise they would trade or none tender and make Realamuto a Yankee.I know he will never hit the long ball like Sanchez but his defense and batting average about 40 points higher is superior.
Talk is cheap and San hex has not done squat since his second year.I know 2019 he started off with a bang but after June hi barely hit .200 and power dropped off.
He is just another Montero talent and no effort or want to. That attitude got Montero out of baseball including Mexico baseball.
Need players who want to be there and work hard.If Andijar could catch it would be great. If DJ leaves our beat offense is Urshella at 2B and Andujar at 3B. Defense is ok but you need hitters and Andujar is a contact hitter. When he played several games in a row with Urshella on the DL he got his swagger back and then they benched him again instead of finding a spot in the lineup.

  7. Agree with Michael Kay, Sanchez is lazy and doesn't hustle! He will continue to play this way as long as Boone keeps defending him. I say trade him now.

  8. Bottom line: below .200 hitting and the worst defense in the league. Play Higgy...
