HICKS IS BACK! SO WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?

Source: NY Post Charles Wenzelberg

I love that the Yankees A team is coming back.  Now, as my friend and fellow Yankee fan of the @BleedBlueShow said so eloquently on Monday, I am happy where we are at right now.  But to get back the team we expected to have at the start of spring training is important for morale quite frankly.  Yet, at the end of the day, what does it mean to have Aaron Hicks back in the line up and what can he or will he contribute to this Yankee team?

"He’s such a dynamic player,’’ the manager said. “Part of why it took a long time for him to come back was making sure he was built up properly. … We feel like he’s in a really good place with conditioning and been past the injury for quite a while now. He’s absolutely ready to go, but it’s obviously something we have to try and stay on top of and monitor,’’ reported the NY Post.

Aaron Hicks has been a contributor to the Yankee team since his signing in 2015-2016 from Minnesota.  He has evolved as a center fielder and a hitter, who not only has power at the plate but power in his arm and his legs. His presence is felt through the Yankee core and his return means so much for this growing Yankee team.

"Hicks returned to the Yankees after a rehab stint with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. After going hitless in 11 at-bats with Class-A Tampa in his first three rehab games, Hicks then went 0-for-3 in his first game with SWB before breaking through with two doubles and a homer on Saturday. The production in his final rehab game made Hicks confident he was ready to come back," reported the Post.

Hicks's return mean everything to this Yankee team, not only in the field and in the batting order but in the dug out as a leader and stand out on this squad.  As the Yankees take the field in today's double header, rest assured that Hicks will be playing in at least one of the two games against the Baltimore Orioles.  And I am hopeful he kicks some butt in his first game of the 2019 season.
