I don't like troublemakers. I don't care how talented you are, if your antics off the field effect things on the field, spills and splits a clubhouse and forms negative opinions about a team and/or breaks up momentum, I say get rid of the garbage and start fresh. And that's what the New York Giants have done. They are trying to class up their image and make things smoother and healthier in their locker room.
If you live under a rock, you need to read this. NFL.com writes:
"Parties are being thrown in Cleveland while fires are set in New York following the trade of Odell Beckham from the Giants to the Browns on Tuesday night."
Now don't get me wrong, I think Beckham is one talented cat. But I was sick and tired of the off the field garbage that kept getting picked up by the media. Party boats in Miami? Sure, he's allowed to do that, but it's when it's publicized that is where things go haywire. The video of him allegedly doing coke with some chick?
Again... no idea what happened, but what I don't like is when it's out there for the world to see. And I think that stuff was what the Giants didn't like... and so, even though they said they were keeping him a few weeks ago... a deal's a deal and the Giants got a good one in return with a top draft pick and a clean slate. CBS Sports writes:
"According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the trade involves the Browns sending their first-round pick in 2019 (No. 17 overall), one of the Browns third-round picks this year (their second one) as well as safety Jabrill Peppers."
Beckham will be fine in Cleveland... maybe even better than fine. But for now, it's the Giants, much like the Yankees that are trying to turn things around. And for SURE, weeding out the riff-raff to appear much classier to their fans.
