You know how much we love the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation and the Runyon 5K run they do at Yankee stadium. Well, this year is the 8th annual run! Over the years we at Bleeding Yankee Blue have interviewed several former Yankees that have been apart of the race and it's always a pleasure to support a terrific cause. I am happy to say that we are doing it again here at BYB. Pay attention folks! This year the event takes place on August 21st!
100% of the funds raised directly support innovative cancer research! Here is some information that to know if you're interested.
o When: Sunday, August 21, 2016
o 9:00 AM – Press gate opens
o 9:25 AM – Opening Remarks and Kickoff
o 9:30 AM – 5K Run/Walk Begins at Gate 4
o Staggered start – Event ends at 2:00 PM
Here's part of the press release to give you some extra info on the course: "The course winds through the ballpark’s concourses and ramps, and up stairs between levels. Participants will have the opportunity to take two laps around the warning track that circles the field, appear on the centerfield video board, and meet scientists funded by Damon Runyon."
And here is the info about Registration:
"Participants can register at runyon5k.org for $55 until July 21 and $65 from July 22 – August 12. Entry fee for kids (ages 5 to 12 years old) is $25 through August 12. Participants are encouraged to raise funds for cancer research. For additional registration details, visit runyon5k.org or email runyon5k@damonrunyon.org."
