Brett Gardner is still letting that wrist heal. But he hopes to be back in action soon. Alittle update on Gardy... he'll be testing that wrist definitely in game play next week, could be earlier.
The New York Post writes:
"...the plan is for Brett Gardner to play his first exhibition game
Wednesday against the Blue Jays at George M. Steinbrenner Field.
Because of a bone bruise in the wrist suffered in last October’s AL
wild-card game, Gardner has been limited to hitting in the indoor cages
and taking batting practice outdoors. But he hasn’t faced live pitching... According to Girardi, the hitting machine Gardner has been hitting on
was turned up to normal velocity Friday and the left fielder came
through that well."
Girardi also said that if there's a right handed pitcher on the mound tomorrow... Gardy may see action. I'd like to see that... I hope he passes the test.
