YANKEES JUST SIGNED A CATCHER
This is a small story, but it's the off season and now we're gonna see a lot of moves, some small, some big. This news comes from Baseball America and it appears the Yankees not only signed a catcher, but a right hander as well. According to Baseball America, the Yankees signed 26 year old Catcher Francisco Diaz and right handed pitcher Jhony Brito.
They write: "Switch-hitting catcher Francisco Diaz will be 26 in 2016, so he’s older than most of the competition he faced at low Class A West Virginia in the Pirates system in 2015.
Catchers are valuable, though, and Diaz offers organizational depth with a career .335 on-base percentage and 35 percent success rate at throwing out basestealers."
Information on Jhony Brito is impossible to find at this point and I am trying to determine if he's just a young kid with no baseball experience or International, Dominican, Cuban, who knows. Very strange and I'm intrigued by this signing because you gotta wonder how the Yankees found him. Hopefully info on him comes out soon.
Anyway, there you have it. We're set... let's play ball...
That's sarcasm.
