Anyone who appreciates baseball... anyone who appreciates the chase, winning and losing and the game of great match-ups knows that last night when ARod walked up to the plate with 2999 hits, the pitcher, Sam Dyson, should have been a man, and thrown his best pitches to Alex. He did not and that's when the stadium erupted more than I've seen it in a while. It was refreshing for me, who is not an Alex Rodriguez fan, but understands and respects milestones and "moments". Last night was Alex's shot to hit 3000, but Dyson denied him on his intentional "unintentional" walk. It was embarrassing for Dyson, even though it was on purpose... it was also cowardly. I laughed when I read this Tweet:
MARLINS PITCHER IS AN ASSHO13
— Can I Pettitte? (@CANiPETTITTE) June 19, 2015
I knew then that Tweet would be my headline.Alex will get 3000 and it will most likely happen tonight. The guy's on fire and I was taken by a crowd that appreciates Alex and all he's done this season. They are leaving the mistakes behind, although, if you read the ESPN headline, you'd think Alex still needs to be crucified.
For Alex Rodriguez, 3,000 hits equals fuzzy math
I'll never understand that Sports outfit... they are hell bent on controversy for the sake of clicks... time to grow up. You wanna rip the guy on "fuzzy math" for homers, I get it. PEDs makes you hit the ball farther... but it doesn't help you hit the ball. Get over yourself. OK, I'm over it... there was actually a game last night...The Yankees won 9-4. They split their games with the Marlins.
CC Sabathia started, going 6, giving up 5 hits and 3 runs. He did not get the win... Chasen Shreve did, and he's not 4-1 on the season.
The Yanks runs went like this:
In the first, Alex singled knocking in Brett Gardner. The Marlins then put 3 on the board. It was then that Brett Gardner hit a 2 run homer.
In the 7th, Carlos Beltran hit a 2 run homer as well. That kind of broke it open for the Yanks. Brian McCann then singled in a run, with Chris Young at the plate, a wild pitch and ARod scored... then Stephen Drew eventually sacrificed home Young.
The Marlins knocked in only 1 more, but that was it.
Yanks won, ARod has 2999 and Sam Dyson is apparently an Assho13. That's what happens when you don't go out there playing your best game and instead skirt around great baseball competition. I'd call him a Pussy, but I can't figure out where to put the '13'.
Final: Yankees 9 - Marlins 4
