Thank God for Bleeding Yankee Blue's relationship with the YES Network.
We received a press release and I wanted to share it with our audience, but because about 99.9% of us were watching the Yankee game in some capacity last night with Derek Jeter playing his last game in pinstripes at Yankee Stadium last night. Check this out... and Thank you Eric:
"Last night’s Orioles-Yankees game, Derek Jeter’s last game at Yankee Stadium, was the most-viewed game telecast ever on the YES Network, averaging 1.25 million viewers in the New York DMA per Nielsen (a 10.84 average TV Household rating). Last night’s game is believed to be the most-viewed game ever on any New York regional sports network."
Between 10:15 and 10:30pm, the audience peaked to 1.99 viewers.
"The previously most-viewed game telecast on YES was of the Yankees-Red Sox April 3, 2005, game which attracted an average of 1.21 million viewers."
Wow. I would have thought maybe the Mariano Rivera game may have been a huge ratings getter. I'm curious how that game went. That being said, it's absolutely amazing.
Jeter IS the Yankees. Such an amazing and inspiring individual. Congrats to the YES Network and of course to our guy, Derek Sanderson Jeter. Job well done.
