The Yankees and CC Sabathia cannot get a break.
Remember when I made a prediction that the Yankees will put a time table of August for Sabathia's return, but then I questioned it because there is no way of truly knowing when it comes to athletes? Remember that? You're welcome...
CC Sabathia just pitched the other night in Trenton for the Thunder... remember that? Well, he didn't have a great outing, but it's rehab and we expected him to eventually bounce back. That's not happening. According to ESPN, and other sources:
" CC Sabathia
was aiming to return around the All-Star break, but after waking up
with inflammation in his right knee on Thursday, that's unlikely to
happen.... He had another MRI on Thursday and has been shut down indefinitely, according to manager Joe Girardi. 'We're waiting to see what the next step is,' Girardi said. 'Can't
tell you how long he's going to be shut down. He said nothing during the
game about it, he woke up today, and that's the report I got. Today it
was swollen, similar to what he's experienced before... To have to shut him down there's some concern. We'll let doctors
determine what it is. [A recent MRI] doesn't show anything new, he's got
swelling in it.' The manager said Sabathia likely will meet with Dr. James Andrews."
Oh goodie. You never want a player visiting Dr. Andrews, 9 times out of ten... that's the end of a season.
Whatever the case, I wish CC well. I love the guy, I just want him healthy and that's been difficult lately. Sad.
