TANAKA-MANIA IN MILWAUKEE

Masahiro Tanaka is 5-0.  But remember, Jose Bautista doesn't think he's special.  Adam Jones isn't phased by Tanaka, asking the media, "Why don't you ask Tanaka about me?" Why would we do that? Jones is batting .267. The fact of the matter is, what Tanaka is doing for the Yankees right now is gold, whether your are happy for him, jealous of him or not.  It's a nice thing to see for a change in Yankeeland... and I'll take it.

Tanaka pitched well against the Brewers.  He struck out 7 in 6 1/3 innings. He was 0-3 at the plate, but no matter, it's still fun to see the American League pitchers give hitting a shot.  Truth be told, I liked watching Tanaka swing the bat as much as I like watching him pitch.

The dude is just graceful in everything he does.

The Yankees scored 5 runs. 4 in the 4th and 1 in the 8th.  In the 4th, Yangervis Solarte had a 3 run homer and then, shortly after, Brian Roberts doubled knocking in Brett Gardner.

Later, in the 8th, it was Mark Teixeira grounding out softly but Ichiro scored on it.

In the end Tanaka gave up 3 runs, 2 of which came in the 6th.  There is was an absolutely scary moment in that inning when Derek Jeter was approached by what appeared to a be drunk fan in a bandanna.  I mean, my God, in Jeter's entire career, I've never seen that happen to him. I hope it's not a trend.  Anyway, here is how Pete Caldera of the Bergen Record described it:

"A young, male fan had vaulted onto the field at Miller Park and was headed toward Derek Jeter. Whatever the fan’s intentions, or level of sobriety, might not have been immediately clear to anyone but Jeter. Turns out the guy wanted a hug, only to receive a harsh tackle by stadium security guards.

That sixth-inning sideshow became a momentary distraction in the Yankees’ 5-3 inter league victory against the Brewers before 40,123 fans – including one individual escorted away.

'If you saw his face, it wasn’t like he was coming out there angry. I wasn’t scared,' Jeter said of the bandana-wearing fan with a Ryan Braun jersey who slowed as he approached the Yankees captain. Arms outstretched, the fan asked Jeter for a hug. 'I was thinking I wasn’t going to hug him,' Jeter said, telling the fan: 'You’re going to get in trouble, man.'"

The fan did get in trouble... he got decked by security.

Overall, the Brew Crew tried to come back, but lucky the Yankee pen held them down.  In the end, Masahiro Tanaka is 5 - 0.

For the record, Jose Bautista went 1-4 with 2 strikeouts in the Blue Jays loss to the Angels last night.

Adam Jones went 1-4 in the Orioles win... noted.

Final: Yankees 5 - Brewers 3
