We just wanted to let you all know that Stephen Drew is working again. He just rejoined the Red Sox.
According to Matt Snyder of CBS Sports.com who reports that the report came from Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com... which I thought was weird, but anyway, Matt writes:
"Stephen Drew is heading back to Boston. He has signed with the Red Sox
for the remainder of the 2014 season for around $10 million -- which is
the $14.1 million qualifying offer he declined this past offseason
pro-rated for the remaining games this season -- reports Jon Heyman of
CBSSports.com."
BYB was not far off...kind of, sort of... well, not really, but at least we were on point with the fact that Drew should be picked up. We just wrote in AND HERE IS HOW THE YANKEES WILL WIN.... that the Yankees should seriously look at Drew for certain personnel reasons, because while he may not out an outstanding bat, he is a great defensive player and will help out the club. Jeana Bellezza writes:
"I am finally going to suggest it, but not right away. Once the draft
ends next month the Yankees can sign him without losing that precious
second round draft pick. It makes sense. We need to be careful with how
we use Derek Jeter and giving him more turns as a DH will help that."
That was written on May 19th. Well, we were thinking ahead, but it didn't work out. Oh well.
Half of Yankeeland doesn't care about Drew... the other half do. Well, he's a Red Sock now... so we move on.
