How long am I going with this "calf" bit? As long as I can...
According to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com, Jacoby Ellsbury is back... at least for 5 innings and that's a good thing. He writes:
"... outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury
played in his second Minor League game in as many days on Wednesday,
playing five innings in center field and reporting no issues. Ellsbury played in a Class A game against a Pirates' squad at the
Himes Complex in Tampa, Fla., going 1-for-4 with a walk. Ellsbury has
not played in a Grapefruit League game since March 14 due to a sore
right calf.
'I think it went very well,' Ellsbury said."
Good! Joe Girardi said it was "comforting" that Ellsbury will play another Minor League game Thursday, and then hopefully he'll be back with the club Friday. That's the plan anyway. Damn right it's "comforting"... we dumped a ton of money on this guy. He better be ready, you know what I mean?
Good calf... atta boy.
