THE SOX ARE PURSUING MATT KEMP "HARD"

I never really wrote a good hot stove headline. I wrote that above and I feel like a pervert.  Back to the drawing board...

Anyway, the Red Sox appear to be looking at Matt Kemp right now. The chatter is to replace Jacoby Ellsbury in the outfield.  Look, for the Sox, it's a smart idea.  Kemp's 29, he's a producer and he'd fit in nicely in Boston, trust me. He's got the snap-on beard.  Ben Shapiro of Mass Live wrote this. I found it quite interesting:

"The Red Sox officially need a center fielder.

Could the Dodgers be coerced into trading star center fielder Matt Kemp? It has been discussed already, but in lieu of Tuesday's flurry of activity there are reasons to think it could be more likely all of a sudden.

It would probably take a formidable package of players to acquire Kemp. It wouldn't have to be an even exchange, though. Assuming that the Red Sox would be willing to pick up a fairly high percentage of what remains on Kemp's massive contract. That deal has six-years and $128 million remaining on it."

Shapiro went further and suggested that if that happens, don't be surprised in the Los Angeles Dodgers then pursue Robinson Cano.  Actually, a brilliant point. He says:

"With Cano and his agents openly marketing Cano as a global branding opportunity, it is hard to believe they'd accept a move to Seattle over the opportunity to play in either L.A. or New York City.

The Dodgers could certainly take the money they'd save by dealing Kemp, and then make Cano an offer similar to the one the Mariners are rumored to be considering. If the numbers were comparable and the choice was Seattle or Los Angeles, then Cano's choice would probably be easy."

Honestly, a lot to digest right there.  I'm hitting the sack.  Read through, share it, and I'm sure when I get up tomorrow there will be absolute Twitter and Hot Stove chaos and I'll need to write feverishly... that's the life of Bleeding Yankee Blue these days... thanks to our readers.
