Now, BYB interviewed Raul after the the 2012 season ended (Read BYB EXCLUSIVE. IBANEZ TO SANDY VICTIMS: "I AM HERE TO HELP")
In a nutshell, it was right after the season and there was alot of chatter that the Yankees and Raul were going to have a nice reunion in 2013. We asked him about his experience in New York. This is from that interview:
It was then, that we were convinced Raul was coming back. Then, he signed with the Mariners. The reason? The Yankees waited too long and Raul wanted a pay check and didn't hear from the Yanks, so he left town. You can't blame him.BYB: How was your experience in the Bronx this season and would you come back to the Yankees if they called?
Raul Ibanez: "One of the greatest years of my life. I heard it was great to be a Yankee I just didn't realize how much! I can't wait to come back to the Yankees!"
Now, the word from George King III and Dan Martin of the New York Post is the Yankees want him back in 2014. "...the Yankees have an interest in bringing back the popular and productive Raul Ibanez to be the DH against right-handed pitching. Some voices within the organization believe it was a mistake to let Ibanez leave following the 2012 season, when Ibanez grew impatient waiting and signed for a second stint with the Mariners."
Damn straight. Now, maybe we have a chance to get him back. Stay tuned on this one...
