BIG UPDATE ON DEREK JETER

In case you live under a rock, Derek Jeter is now out of the Twins series and the Yankees are going to keep and eye on him, especially with the All-Star Break coming up, they're hoping to buy time.  It was confirmed that Jeter has a Grade 1 Strain in his left quad, that's what the MRI revealed.  That was reported by everyone, but we'll give the Sporting News a plug HERE.

The Sporting News says: "Cashman told reporters the team will "play it safe" and keep Jeter out of this weekend's three-game home series against the Minnesota Twins.

Cashman did not rule out a return to the disabled list for Jeter, but the Yankees will use the weekend, plus next week's All-Star break, to determine the next step
."

Many fans are angry about Jeter returning and getting hurt.  Many blame Cashman.  I totally get that. We waited all this time, for what? Nothing but another injury.  In fact, check out Subway Squawkers piece titled Rushing Derek Jeter back to the Yankees after just four rehab starts...gee, what could go wrong? A well done piece, great opinion and a shout out to Lisa Swan, one of the best out there.

I'm not on that side though.  My take is simply that if Jeter was cleared, ready to go, why not just play the guy?  I know, I know, he was in a few rehab games... looking back now, it wasn't enough to build his strength perhaps, but the Yankees are desperate and if Jeet was cleared to play, who would have thunk a quad strain would happen, not me. Not Cashman... not many of you.  Whatever the case, we're back where we were.  Now, I would assume Jeter will go back to the DL, but I guess the Yankees are just going to wait it out and see where Jeter is after the All-Star break.  I makes sense.

If we hear anything new, of course were going to bring it to you here at Bleeding Yankee Blue... right now, send a Get Well card to the Captain... this is not a good season for this poor guy.
