So, it's a Yankee off day, which usually means there isn't much going on. I mean maybe there will be movement and some Yankee news will come out at some point this afternoon, but this story I found silly.
The Associated Press (HERE) reported just a short time ago that Alex Rodriguez is "getting power back in simulated at-bats." I mean, that it literally the headline. It went on:
"Yankees third baseman, coming back from hip surgery in January, hit a ball to the base of the center-field fence and another on the warning track in left center off a minor league right-hander Monday as he continued taking simulated at-bats.
In sessions late last week, A-Rod primarily hit grounders mixed in with a couple liners.
Rodriguez also had an extensive baserunning session and did sliding drills on a mat in the outfield, two key steps before starting a minor league rehab assignment."
Thank goodness they gave us more than the power stuff, I was afraid they really had nothing! Now look, there is speculation that ARod could be back before our Captain Derek Jeter comes back. There are some that don't want him back at all. There are some that want him back now because our offense is lacking.
You know what I want? 2 things:
1. I want the press to stop printing a story about ARod having power when the real story would be that he showed up to hit today and COULDN'T hit for power. ARod is a power hitter on the mend, of course he can still hit for power. That's not new.
2. I want our Yankees to win, be it with Alex or not. We have the tools, we need to use them.
If Alex decides to ride a bike somewhere, read a book or take a bowel movement, we'll be sure to bring it to you, because apparently that's news these days. Enjoy this wonderful day everyone!
