I hate to even sound so harsh about Phil Hughes, but the reality is... time is up. If you're going to pitch for the New York Yankees, you gotta pitch well. Hey, there are plenty of clubs that could use an inconsistent pitcher. This is the reality... time is ticking and we've waited long enough to see this "young Roger Clemens" blossom. Where is he?? Last night, the Yankees lost another... Hughes was part of the problem. The other? We only had four hits, but more importantly, they were singles... we were flat... AGAIN!
Hughes pitched 4.1 innings giving up 4 hits and 3 runs. He only struck out 3, walked 5 and gave up yet another home run. Seriously, just give me 6 strong, that's all I'm asking for.
On the hitting front, Mark Teixeira sacrificed Brett Gardner home, Jayson Nix knocked in Kevin Youkilis. That's it... 2 runs off the Athletics pitching and no help from our own pitching.
Not too pleased and Phil, I apologize ahead of time for calling you Mr. Pitiful.... but it's getting late early... we need you pal.
Final: Athletics 5 - Yankees 2.
