KING KURODA & THE YANKEE BATS RALLY

Today was a double header. I hate double headers because I'm at work, not able to watch, not able to surf, just able to check out my phone from time to time and wonder what the hell is happening.  In Game 1 today, it was the return of Don Mattingly.

Now, everyone loves Mattingly, and how can you not? In fact, the Bleacher Creatures included him at Roll Call today... talk about classy... you gotta love that!

But yeah, there was a game today! The Yankees against the Dodgers.  The last time was in 1981 and I was at the stadium during Game 1 of the '81 World Series.

I was a kid and my hero Gator was on the mound... we won that game... but we lost the Series... and life goes on.

Today Hiroki Kuroda was on the mound for the first game. Kuroda was cruising for quite a while, going 6.2 innings, allowing 8 hits and 2 runs.  For the Yankee bats, well, they came alive in Game 1 and thank god!

Here are some of the Yankees highlights.  Ichiro cranked out a home run today.  Later on, there was a throwing error by Ronald Belisario and Jayson Nix scored. Then Ichiro came up again, singled to left and scoring was Robinson Cano and Vernon Wells. Lyle Overbay recorded a double today.  Ichiro was 3-4 with 2 runs scored and 3 RBI's and don't look now, but his average is up to .274.

Final Score, Game 1: Yankees 6 - Dodgers 4.

We needed that win.  And speaking of "need"... maybe you need a BleedingYankeeBlue.com Coolie for your beer, Mike's Hard Lemonade or can of Coke?

Coming soon... stay tuned...
