Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe is always good for a nugget or 2 and the most recent one is the series of events that allegedly has Joba Chamberlain on the trade block. For the record, let me state I want Joba Chamberlain to flourish as a New York Yankee. This year could in fact be his biggest, now that he's fully healthy and ready to role. Some had suggested this is the end of Joba in the Bronx and according to a scout in Cafardo's piece HERE, that could be the case.
"Word that Texas has scouted him and that he would be available doesn’t come as a surprise to those in the Yankee organization who feel they’ve gone about as far as they can with him. 'They would deal him in a heartbeat and then fill in with one of their starters in the bullpen,' said an AL scout. 'If Texas would give up [Mike] Olt, a deal could get done there.'"
Mike Olt is 24, a first baseman, third baseman and right fielder. There is a fit, especially with the Yankees having injury to Mark Teixeira and chatter has him out until June, read HERE.
So I ask you, what do you think? Should the Yankees try and pull the trigger on Joba for Olt, or should they stay put and see what kind of magic he could provide this season with the Yankees?
By the way, you can read about Joba over last week in the following posts:
