YANKEE INJURY UPDATES: DROB & GARDNER
4:30pm DROB UPDATE: According to LoHud's tweet HERE, David Robertson threw 25 pitches during Batting Practice today. The Yankees will be deciding what to do next, whether he will pitch a rehab game or throw another Batting Practice. Good News!
We want to keep you all posted on progress that both David Robertson and Brett Gardner are making. Hopefully both will be back in the Bronx sooner then later. So here is what we know...
DRob is scheduled to throw batting practice today at Yankee Stadium and could pitch in a Minor League rehabilitation game on Sunday. He's been on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 14, with a left oblique strain that he said is no longer an issue. Joe Girardi said he does not believe that Robertson would need to pitch in back-to-back Minor League games before being activated.
Brett Gardner, who's been on the DL with a right elbow injury, is expected to play in a Minor League game for Class A Advanced Tampa today. Gardner felt some stiffness yesterday after taking five at-bats in an extended spring game, but Girardi said he was "not surprised" by that. The Yankees have not ruled out that Gardner could be activated for Sunday's game against the Mets.
BYB will keep an eye on how DRob's batting practice goes as well as Gardy's rehab game today and bring you any updates we get.
