(Photos by Strat-o-Matic)
Remember we told you about an exciting situation happening at Foley’s Pub in New York over the past weekend involving Strat-O-Matic and Brett Carow and Sam Henneman? We wrote about it in THE BLEEDING YANKEE BLUENEWSSTAND VII. In a nutshell, those 2 guys are Strat-O-Matic fanatics and they were trying to break the Guiness Book of World Record’s longest marathon of playing the board game.  The only record was 53 hours and 59 minutes.  Great news…they beat the record!

As the press release goes: “The event, hosted by Strat-O-Matic, began on Thursday, June 7 at 9 a.m. ET at Foley’s NY Pub & Restaurant and while playing their 109th game on Saturday, June 9 at 3:00 p.m. ET, the duo established a new world record of 54 hours.  After a brief celebration Brett and Sam sat back down at their gaming table for another 7 hours to extend their record to 61:02 hours.”

The founder of Strat-O-Matic Hal Richman said this of the event:  “This is a remarkable accomplishment and one that speaks to the passion and enthusiasm that Strat-O-Matic Fanatics have had for the game for more than 50 years… We congratulate Brett and Sam and thank them for taking part in the historic event.”

Bravo guys! Great job bringing Strat-O-Matic back in the public eye and great work to Foley’s Pub…you guys continue to host terrific events!
