BREAKING: MARIANO RIVERA, "SURGERY WENT PERFECTLY"

Some more great news out of Yankeeland!  We just posted that DRob looks to be on mark to make his return this weekend against the Washington Nationals.  And now we hear from Mariano Rivera who announced his "surgery went perfectly" today.  Rivera added, "I am looking forward to beginning my rehab soon.  Thanks as always for your prayers."  The meniscus in Rivera’s right knee did not require any repair, according to the Yankees.  Surgery had been delayed because of a blood clot found in Rivera’s calf during an initial exam days after the injury occurred, but the reliever fully believes he will be able to pitch in 2013 as hoped.

Look, we know Rivera will not be pitching for our 2012 Yankees but to hear that his surgery today went according to plan is great news.  Remember what Rivera said himself the day after he was injured:  "I'm coming back. Write it down in big letters. I'm not going out like this."  Get better soon Mo!
