SIGNS OF LIFE FROM HIROKI KURODA

Make no mistake, regardless of whether the Yankees won or lost tonight's Spring training game verses the Houston Astros, the headline has to be the stellar outing by the Yankees $10-million dollar man, Hiroki Kuroda. Kuroda was making his second start for the New York Yankees this Spring and he definitely looked very solid.

Kuroda went three innings not allowing a run, surrendering just two hits, walking two and striking out two Astro batters. Kuroda was definitely much sharper tonight compared to his debut in pinstripes last week. He kept the ball down in the strike zone and looked like to be in control of all his pitches. In fact, out of the 12 batters he retired, 8 were ground ball outs. A good sign he made the pitches Francisco Cervelli was calling for.

The Yankees lost tonight, 4-3 against the Astros, but there were a few moments I want to point out...Nick Swisher had a triple and 2 RBIs. DeWayne Wise played alittle left field, had a hit and a stolen base. That's really all I got. It's Spring, it doesn't count, remember?

The Yankees take on big mouth Bobby V and the Red Sox tomorrow at 7:05pm (EST). Ivan Nova will make his second start of this Spring. We will definitely be recapping that one. Look for it.
